Hundreds of documents detailing how the CIA covered its tracks on extraordinary rendition suggest greater British complicity in kidnap and torture than previously thought, campaigners said today.
Over 1,500 operational and legal documents, originally disclosed as part of a New York court case fought between Charter company Richmor Aviation and aviation broker SportsFlight from 2007 to 2011, over the cost of the rendition flights.
Legal action charity Reprieve said the material provides "an unprecedented insight" into how rendition was outsourced.
The documents show a complicated billing chain obscured the ultimate end user of the flights - the CIA.

They also reveal that the US government used the same aircraft - tail number N85VM, owned by Liverpool FC owner Philip Morse - for over 55 flights to Guantanamo Bay, Kabul and many other locations.
The Gulfstream jet frequently passed through British and Irish airports including Shannon, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London Luton.
Britain was forced to admit in 2008 that CIA rendition flights had refuelled on the British overseas territory of Diego Garcia despite repeated previous denials.
Chairman of the all-party parliamentary group on extraordinary rendition Andrew Tyrie MP said the documents suggested that "Britain's complicity in rendition flights appears more extensive than previously thought."
This made it all the more vital that the Gibson torture inquiry examine Britain's role in rendition circuit flights, he said.
A number of former Guantanamo prisoners sued the British government in a bid to obtain information on their torture and abuse. But then Foreign Secretary David Miliband claimed that disclosing such information could affect future intelligence sharing with the US.
Reprieve legal director Cori Crider said: "When you see all these details, litigated for years in the open, the question that comes to mind is why were Binyam Mohamed, Bisher al-Rawi and all the other rendition victims denied their day in court?
"This case proves once and for all that the reason the (British) government blocked the rendition cases was not to protect sensitive material - it was to avoid embarrassment."
A Foreign Office spokesman said it unreservedly condemned "extraordinary rendition" and did not "participate in, solicit, encourage or condone the use of torture or inhuman or degrading treatment for any purpose."
He said Britain had not given permission for the two Diego Garcia flights and had sought and received further assurances that "no other instances in which US intelligence flights landed in the UK, our overseas territories or the crown dependencies with a detainee on board since September 11 2001."
But Amnesty International UK Policy Adviser Tara Lyle said: "There was always something highly dubious about the government's manoeuvrings to keep information about the UK's alleged involvement in rendition, secret imprisonment and torture out of the public domain.
"To a large extent we've had to rely on court cases, investigative journalism and human rights work to get to some of the truth about how much UK officials knew and how much they turned a blind eye to."
